Choose a shower screen with enough coverage

A fixed glass panel can work beautifully when the shower area is generous and the shower head faces away from the opening. Position the shower head thoughtfully

In that case, a properly sized screen, effective floor fall and a well-placed drain become even more important.

Do not overlook the seal at the bottom of the screen or door. Clear water strips and threshold seals reduce the gap where water can escape. They wear over time, so inspect them when you notice a change in performance. Replacing a worn seal is a small maintenance task that can prevent a larger cleaning and water-damage issue.

Protect the bathroom entrance and nearby finishes

The bathroom door area is often the first place to show the effects of splash. Water-resistant materials are especially worthwhile here, as bathrooms experience regular humidity, condensation and occasional wet feet. After showering, use a squeegee to guide water on the glass and floor towards the drain. This takes less than a minute and reduces water marks, soap residue and lingering dampness.

Keep the floor trap clear of hair and soap build-up so water drains at the intended speed. If the bathroom is used by several people in quick succession, switch on the exhaust fan or open the window where possible. Better airflow will not stop splashes, but it helps the remaining moisture evaporate faster.

Avoid relying on thick bath mats as the main solution. They absorb water rather than stopping it, and a saturated mat can hide a drainage problem. Use one just outside the shower zone for comfort and safety, then hang it to dry after use.
